Our mission is to use couture fabric scraps and embellishments to create one-of-a-kind artworks, elevating these textiles from ‘waste’ to something precious again.
At Precious Again we treat all materials at every stage of the art-making process as invaluable.
Every last scrap of fabric is used, whether it is in the patchwork diamond, hand-spun into decorative yarn to wrap the artwork or made into paper for the artwork’s Certificate of Authenticity. A Precious Again gemstone is a truly guilt-free luxury.
Precious Again is a boutique, privately owned company based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded by artist Lucy Farmer in 2023.
From the Precious Again founder, Lucy Farmer:
I’ve always admired the beauty of diamonds and gemstones and have been exploring their colours and shapes in my painting practice for years. When I’d finish a painting I would wipe the brushes and palettes on rags made from old bed sheets. Once I left a rag in a shallow tub of paint water.
Over time the water evaporated and the rag absorbed the paint pigments and binders. This fabric was so beautiful that I continued to leave all the painting rags to soak up the paint water, not letting any paint go down the sink.
