How to care for your Precious Again textile-based artworks
General care:
- Keep your artwork out of direct sunlight. These artworks are made from many different materials and the colours may fade if exposed to direct sunlight.
- Keep your artwork away from moisture: 40%-60% humidity is ideal
- Keep your artwork within a comfortable and constant room temperature (15C-25C and 59F-77F) Do not expose to extreme temperatures.
- Keep away from pets and children
- Keep away from kitchens or any other rooms that have a strong smell or emit moisture (e.g. bathrooms)
- Keep the area around the artwork clean to prevent insects and rodents
Cleaning textile-based artworks:
- Use a round, soft tipped brush to gently brush away dust
- Alternately, use a hairdryer on a cold, low setting to gently blow any dust from the artwork. Move the hairdryer across the artwork, keeping the hairdryer only as close as needed for a light breath of air to carry the dust away
- Use a dry, soft cloth to gently wipe any large, shiny embellishments such as sequin film or glass beads.
- Do not wash or use any chemicals, water or moisture to clean the artwork.
Cleaning Hand-Spun Yarn:
- Unless otherwise stated, all our hand-spun yarn is for decorative purposes only. It is made from the leftover textiles, threads and fibres remaining from the production of our artworks. As our artworks are generally a mixture many different materials, these tiny, leftover, precious fibres get mixed together and as such we cannot guarantee their combined composition. We cannot guarantee the effect of washing the yarn as each skein will contain it’s own unique blend of fibres.
